Compubake Oven
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| I have a Compubake oven that does not seem to be working. What should I do? | Check that the program has not been cancelled or changed from previous settings. If so, simply re-program your oven. If your problem continues, contact Star Line or your local service repairer as listed on this web site. |
Elements
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| I have a small conveyor oven and my elements are continually turning on and off. What should I do? | Star Line ovens are controlled by a simmerstat which is designed to provide intermittent power which goes on and off to control temperature. This is normal. When operating in high or full position the oven will remain on at full power. | | My pizza oven element appears patchy with red hot red and black cooler areas. What should I do? | This is normal. To provide an even bake and heat distribution, these unique elements are designed this way to distribute the heat more evenly throughout the cooking chamber. | | I have a broken element. What should I do? | Under normal wear and tear, parts such as elements do break. To replace the broken element, find out the oven model number and call Star Line or contact your local repairer as listed on the web site. Only qualified repairers should service and repair Star Line equipment. |
Conveyor Belt
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| My belt stops and starts. What should I do? | Sometimes a reinforcing bar within the oven may have moved. Turn on the oven and have a look in the cooking chamber to see the cause of the obstruction. Try to remove the obstruction. For further assistance, contact Star Line or your local service repairer as listed on this web site. | | My belt has become loose and is sagging. What should I do? | All belts leave our factory pre-tensioned but after normal use under load and heat, the belts will stretch. Star Line ovens are designed to be easily re-tensioned. To re-tension your oven belt, please contact Star Line or your local service repairer for instructions. |
Fan
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| The fan is noisy or ticking. What should I do? | Pick up the machine and look inside the fan. Commonly, some debris or paper has fallen into the fan. Carefully remove the debris and clear the fan blades. | | My fan continues after I have switched off the main power to the oven. What should I do? | For reliability, Star Line ovens are built with a thermal cut-out switch which continues to cool the oven until it is a safe temperature to handle. This is a normal Star Line safety feature. For this reason never switch off the oven at the power outlet. |
Crumb Tray
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| I cannot remove the crumb tray while the oven is hot. What should I do? | Heat can cause metals to expand and twist. To remove the crumb tray, wait for the tray to cool, then remove. Staff should be extremely careful handling hot crumb trays. Do not attempt to remove the crumb tray until it is cold. |
Pizza Finish
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| My pizza base is not brown and crispy. What should I do? | Star Line conveyor ovens use and recommend black mild steel trays. This is because black absorbs heat better, whilst silver trays reflect the heat. Use black mild steel pizza trays for perfect results. Good pizzas take a minimum time to cook. Do not try to hasten your baking or you will compromise quality results. |
Toast Colour
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| My toast is either too light or dark on one side. What should I do? | Star Line ovens are controlled by a simmerstat dial. Adjust the top or bottom element control to achieve your desired even result. |
Oven Adjustment
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| How do I fine tune the oven to achieve optimal desired results? | Step 1 The first step is to set an acceptable cooking time.
Step 2 With ovens equipped with a facility to control a temperature, set a suitable temperature for the product.
Step 3 Set top and bottom elements controls to achieve the desired temperature.
Step 4 It is recommended to make some records of trials and then make any adjustments as required, according to the quality of the finished product.
Like any good cooking, it requires good operators to achieve great results. Good product, raw materials, the machine and patience will achieve perfect results every time. |
Perfect Results
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| How do I achieve perfect results using the oven? | Star Line ovens will bake/cook most products that will readily fit the machine for height clearance and width. Some products may require a tray, others not necessarily. Star Line ovens provide excellent control of time and temperature and in particular, have the facility to control individually both top and bottom elements. Individuals guarantee a perfect finish every time. Optimal results are achieved using trial and error and commonsense in handling and adjusting the oven. Do not adjust all controls at once when trying to fine tune the oven to achieve the desired results. Notate your changes and adjust the controls accordingly. |
Pizza Output
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| How many pizzas will the oven cook an hour? | All ovens have an optimum output, depending on the length and width of the oven. How many pizzas of a certain size the oven will handle will depend on the specific oven. Consult our charts on this web site to determine possible output quantities. All ovens, regardless of manufacturer, vary in their production output. Because of the size of the oven, baking times may range generally from 6 to 9 minutes. |
Oven Cleaning
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| How do I clean my oven? | Pay regular attention to the machine and ideally wipe clean the oven every day. This reduces any build-up of food waste that may interfere with the long term operation of the oven. Clean the oven with a cloth, sponge or soft brush using minimal mild soapy detergent. Make sure that water does not enter the electric control panel. With regular cleaning and maintenance, the oven will not require abrasives to be used. |
Conveyor Ovens
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| What are the DO's and DONT's of Conveyor Ovens ? | DO The unit must operate in a clean air environment. It is dependent on its fan for cooling of its electronics.
The unit must have a minimum clearance on both sides of at least 150mm.
The unit must cool down with its fan operating for at least 15 minutes before removing.
Excluding toasting breads, all other products should be cooked on trays to keep the belt clean.
Please keep the crumb tray and toaster free of a build-up of excess crumbs.
Wherever possible, use the power switch on the control panel to shut the unit down. Do not use the wall switch as this shuts the cooling fan down, also preventing cooling of controls.
DON'T Reinforcing a previous point, do not shut down using the wall switch until the unit is cool to touch. |
